Fear of a New Pandemic

In science my class is learning about epidemics and illnesses. We learned about a terrible bird flu that happened in 1718. The flu was terrible and killed many people. Don't worry, there is not a terrible illness spreading right now so there is nothing to fear. I wrote a poem about how I would feel if I was living in a time when the virus was spreading and what my fears would be. I hope you enjoy my poem and remember to wash your hands to prevent sickness!
Fear of a New Pandemic
Will I start getting headaches,
Will I sweat when the fever “breaks”,
Will my face turn purple or blue,
How will I know if I get some type of bird flue?

No universal vaccine has been made,
So will I faint when I’m not in the shade,
Will I start to get dizzy and see things that aren't real,
What will I do, how will I feel?

What will happen when the pandemic starts to spread,
And people fill each hospital bed,
What will happen what will I do,
If it spreads to me and you?

Will doctors be afraid and leave me alone,
As I throw up and groan,
Will this pandemic turn out worse than the one in 1718,
Will it injure my appetite and hurt my spleen?

What will I do if it comes back,
Will the viruses find me and attack,
What will happen if it returns brand new,
Will I escape the next dangerous flu?
