Apartheid

Apartheid Poem

During 1948 in Africa,
Each race got their own area,
Homelands were what African tribes called home,
When it was dark they couldn't roam,
All public places were segregated,
If they were different they were hated,
Apartheid meant 'apartness',
It is a system with no happiness,
For 26 years Nelson was arrested,
Just because he was brave and protested,
Mandela was peaceful and never fought,
And I feel very bad for the people who were arrested and caught,
ANC ended apartheid forever,
We should thank the people that were so brave and so clever,
Now everyone in Africa has equal rights,
No more racism is in sight,
It is all thanks to people like Desmond Tutu,
His speak of Human Rights spread and grew,
The late 1980s was a very good year,
It was when apartheid disappeared.
