Problems

We can invent the telephone,

But why can’t we bring soldiers home.

We can invent light,

But why isn’t everybody’s future bright.

We can invent different kinds of pencil lead,

But how come some people don’t have a roof over their head.

We can start a new life,

But why can’t we destroy all strife.

We can make money lots and lots,

But how come there is no water in the places that are hot.

There are so many things we can do,

Nobody should ever have to feel this blue.

We should stop trashing places, rivers, and lakes,

To the poor and needy we should give vegetables, fruits, and steaks.

We should try to stand up to something that’s not right,

This way nobody should ever have to fight.

Children should get the education they need,

Beggars should no longer have to plead.

This is all coming from my heart,

From these problems I hope we can part.
